Gas product suppliers should ensure they supply the appropriate materials, fittings and components, for example: if a gas hose assembly is requested by a gas fitter, a semi-rigid connector is not appropriate.

Gas fitters should familiarise themselves with the difference between a semi-rigid connector (marked ‘AS4631’) and a gas hose assembly (marked ‘AS/NZS1869’).

A Gas Hose Assembly is a flexible tube or pipe complete with end couplings and that is certified to ‘AS/NZS1869 Hose and hose assemblies for liquefied petroleum gases (LP Gas), natural gas and town gas’. (Note: Different classes of hose assembly are required dependent on pressure and temperature.
