Sorry, I failed to describe the installation. The boiler is a 45 year old residential boiler that feeds a baseboard hot water heating system (house is approx 2,800 Sq. Ft.).

because the RPZ is actually WORKING and doing its job the building has a 'closed system' and during periods of low building use AND high 'general' use (slight lower pressure in street main) the valve is actually relieving the back pressure read it and weep (former certified NY State tester)

I replaced both check valves and the relief valve assembly in a 1/2 Inch LF009QT Reduced Pressure Zone Assembly using Watts repair kit - 0887298. Everything went together well and all O-rings were coated with the provided grease. After an hour or so, the relief valve port began dripping (as it had before the replacement of all parts). However, the amount of dripping is reduced from before the repair. The relief valve now drips once every 30-45 seconds. The repair went extremely easily and ALL parts were replaced. Why would the valve still be dripping? Zhetoman

Periodic relief valve discharge may occur on dead end service applications, such as boiler feed lines or cooling tower makeup lines due to fluctuating supply pressure during a static or no flow condition. To avoid this discharge, install a spring-loaded rubber seated check valve ahead of the backflow assembly to “lock-in” the downstream pressure……….Taken from the install instructions.
