BPA and lead -free materials and certified for material safety and structural integrity.

Installing a sediment filter between the pump and the pressure tank can cause damage to the filter and the pump. When the filter gets plugged up and the pressure switch calls for the well pump to come on, the pump will be pushing water against a plugged filter which can destroy the filter or the pump. Therefore, sediment filters should always be installed AFTER the pressure tank.

I installed this high flow unit using 3/4 super pex last week and it works very well. The only thing that burns me about this unit is that the bracket is sold separately. Because of this business practice some stores don’t stock the bracket. This is absurd practice, if you install this without a proper mounting bracket, operating, opening and closing this unit is unsafe and high likelihood of snapping inlet and outlet fittings.

Although BC2 and BC202 carbon filters fit the high flow housings, they are only rated for 3 GPM and 6 GPM respectively. This makes them usable for small cottages or homes with max 2 bathrooms. However, a sediment pre-filter must be installed before the carbon filter to protect it against premature plugging.

Iron is dissolved in the water and as such cannot be removed by sediment filters. However, rust (oxidized iron) which is in a particle form, can be efficiently reduced by sediment filters.

No. However, if you intend to disinfect your water by a UV system, a sediment filter is mandatory for proper functioning of the UV system.

A micron, is a unit of measurement. 1 micron = 1/1000 mm, denoted as µ (Human hair is about 75 to 100 microns in diameter). Micron rating of a filter cartridge refers to the smallest particle size in microns that the filter cartridge is capable of removing. For example, a 30 micron cartridge will remove particulates as small as 30 micron while a 5 micron filter cartridge will remove particulates as small as 5 micron. The lower the micron rating of the filter cartridge, the tighter the filter and the smaller the particle size it can remove.

I installed this as an upgrade to the smaller filter housing because the smaller one would restrict flow once the filter started to get clogged. My water has high iron and manganese, but I don’t have any other filter/water softener hooked up. I am on a well at 40-60 psi pressure. This larger capacity version worked, and did not restrict flow as the filter got dirty. Filters in the smaller version would last about 4 weeks; while this one lasts about 8-10 weeks for my application.

I’m on a municipal water system which has a lot of colour and particulate in it so a installed this until on my water line and it has made a big difference. I also installed a Twist single cartridge unit with a QLV filter in it and have managed to remove all the colour from my water! Working in the water treatment industry for the last 15+ years I’ve seen multiple systems ranging from a cottage to a 10 mega gallon per day system. For the dollar this is one on the best values I’ve seen. I highly recommend this unit!

Yes, to achieve lower pressure drop and higher flow, sediment filters can be installed in a parallel configuration. However, both filter cartridges must be the same rating.

Consumption of drinking water that has lead can lead to severe brain and blood damage, especially in young children, infants and pregnant women. Even low level exposure may harm the intellectual development, behaviour, size and hearing of infants. If your home was built prior to 1990 or you suspect that lead -based solder was used in your plumbing, you should contact your local water authority and get a water test done. Most municipalities in Canada will do a free lead test.

Yes, it is common to put sediment filters in series. Typically the coarser cartridge is installed first followed by the finer cartridge. You can install 3 or more in series with progressively finer cartridges.

Activated carbon filter cartridge for chlorine, taste and odour reduction. Note: Rated for 3 US GPM and 6 US GPM respectively

You can install Rainfresh Drinking Water system 3, Reverse Osmosis System (RO450) or TWIST system to have lead -free drinking water. All these systems are tested and certified to NSF/ANSI 53 for lead reduction.

I Installed 2 of these filter systems in my home about 11-12 years ago. Everything was going fine until it wasn’t. One of the housing cracked open and completely flooded by crawl space. Now I have a big clean up on my hands and these units are going in the garbage. Thanks rainfresh!!!!! .

Lead is a colourless, tasteless, odourless harmful metal that is typically found in water supplies that either pass through lead water service pipes or home water pipes that have been soldered using lead -solder. The National Plumbing Code allowed lead as an acceptable material for pipes until 1975 and in solder until 1986. Therefore homes constructed before 1990 are more likely to have lead problems.
