I have used a WATTS 25AUB Pressure regulator ser. 8322W with a blue name tag for 15 years on my home incomming water maind with no problems. 1 " Copper lines, incoming pressure 130psi. We had some pressure creap inside the house and I was out of town so I had a lic. Plumber replaced it 1 week ago. It made a squeal so load they could hear it across the street when tolet or washer was used. He installed a new 2nd 25AUB Z3 (ser. 07211) with green tag that worked 2-3 days and now squeals. Less but still very load. Is there a recall or difference between 25AUB and the Z3? Suggestions? Rebuild the old one? Art

The first would have the effect of input pressure 20psi, output pressure 10 psi. If the input pressure was raised to 100psi, the output would be 50psi.

Turn the adjustment screw counterclockwise one full turn and the noise should stop. This will increase your house pressure slightly. The object is to move it away from its factory setting (where it's been stuck for how ever long it's been on the shelf).

Robertshaw has been supplying products to the industrial and HVAC control markets since 1904 that meet demanding customer requirements for most types of process control. Their products are manufactured in an ISO 9001 facility in Maryville, TN. One of the many control valves Robertshaw offers is the VC-210-BR, 3/4"NPT, ATC action, Mini-Max Diaphragm Control Valve. The VC-210-BR is built with stainless steel castings especially designed for the control of water, steam, gas, vacuum, etc. The Mini-Max is a single seated, bellows sealed valve to prevent stem leakage. The Mini-Max actuator is enclosed in a rugged housing and frame with an accessible spring adjusting nut to provide for easy field adjustment. Synthane gaskets are located betwen the valve bonnet and actuator to reduce heat transfer to the diaphragm. The Mini-Max is available in a two-way and three-way configuration with direct and reverse actuation.

Water will flow through it, but it will squeal. In this case there must be some debris jamming the element inside, preventing it from opening fully.
Yes tank type heater and no expansion tank. But we never have and the first one never squeaked. I would think if it was just expansion tank then when we release back pressure by opening cold the sound would go away. It makes noise any time we flow either hot or cold. Thanks for looking at this. Art
I was hoping that you were right but I just looked and "In" is on the street side and "out" on the house side so I think it is in the right way. Art
are you positive it's the prv and not the nearby main cutoff -- cutoffs will definately squell if they have a washer and some do.
