The e.Mas 7 is offered with a choice of two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack options. The base Prime is juiced up by a 49.52-kWh battery, offering a claimed maximum range of 345 km (WLTP) while the Premium variant is powered by a 60.22-kWh pack giving a range of 410 km (WLTP).

Being a modern BEV, the e.Mas 7 comes standard with Level 2 ADAS which includes autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian recognition, lane change assist, and intelligent cruise control (ICC) among others.

The Premium variant comes fully loaded with an auto-dimming rearview mirror, powered ventilated front seats (including memory function for the driver), a head-up display, 256-colour ambient lighting, and a 16-speaker Wanos premium audio system from Flyme Sound. That is an additional 10 speakers from the base Prime grade.

Aside from the interior colour, the e.Mas 7 carries over most of the cabin features from its Chinese twin. A 15.4-inch touchscreen display of 2.5K resolution running on Flyme Auto OS is placed smack dab in the middle which is the largest ever placed in a Proton.

Unlike the Chinese units which are offered with a white interior, the e.Mas 7 comes with a black interior. It might look conventional but having black upholstery would make it easier to clean up or hide stains.

That wait is close to over as bookings for the electric SUV are announced with two variants - Prime and Premium and an estimated price of RM 120,000. That is less than the X70 Premium and Premium X variants which are priced from RM 123,800 and RM 126,800 respectively.

Its Chinese development sibling, the Galaxy E5, also recently concluded its high-mileage adventure. The 10-day, 3,700 km journey from China to Malaysia saw a team of E5s endure even more severe road and weather conditions, including Typhoon Yagi.

Other standard features include a 10.2-inch driver display, a powered driver seat, a wireless charger, automatic air conditioning with N95 filter, storage compartments under the second row seats and trunk floor as well as vehicle-to-load (V2L) though Proton has not released the latter's max output.

The debut model of Proton’s electrified-only brand, e.Mas will be managed by Pro-Net which also handles the local distribution of Smart. The e.Mas 7 is based on the Geely Galaxy E5 which was launched in China in August.

Yet all of them survived upon reaching Malaysia, proving the BEV SUV’s durability. We sampled one of the Galaxy E5s and you can check what we think in our review below but do bear in mind that the e.Mas 7 could offer a different driving experience.

With the tour around the East Coast just completed, Proton announced the electric SUV has covered over 3,200 km in total.

Malaysia's first BEV supports DC fast charging of up to 80 kW for the Prime variant and 100 kW for the Premium. P1 claims the e.Mas can charge from 30% to 80% state-of-charge (SoC) under DC charging in 20 minutes.

Since the e.Mas 7’s media preview a couple of months ago, the electric SUV embarked on a nationwide tour across all 14 states and federal territories. This is the first tour of its kind in Malaysia which will see the electric SUV navigating diverse terrains across the country.

As previously revealed on the company’s official social media channels, the e.Mas 7 shares the same 12-in-1 electric system as the Galaxy E5. The front-mounted electric motor generates 218 PS/320 Nm, propeling the SUV from 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds.

On the outside, the e.Mas 7 comes standard with automatic LED headlights with active high beam (AHB) control and powered concealed door handles. The Premium variant adds a power tailgate, a panoramic sunroof with sunshade, an active grille shutter, and 19-inch wheels (Prime gets 18-inchers).
