This course provides 8 hours of approved continuing education. It explores every amendment made to the 2018 UPC when adopting it as the basis for the 2020 Minnesota Plumbing Code followed by a look at every significant change made during the 2012 to 2018 code review cycles to the code sections of the 2018 Uniform Plumbing Code adopted by Minnesota.
All this said, there’s always a chance the DLI will audit you and want to see proof of your CE. Save all of your certificates of completion — which your CE provider should issue whenever you finish a course — so you can have the necessary paperwork ready if you find yourself in this situation.

You need four hours of CE during each license period. At least two of your hours need to focus on the Minnesota rules and statutes governing water conditioning.
This course is designed to fulfill the two hours of continuing education (CE) on codes and laws now required for all Registered Unlicensed Plumbers and Registered Unlicensed Water Conditioners in Minnesota (but is approved CE for all plumber license types). This class will cover every amendment, showing what is deleted, added, or changed from the model 2018 UPC followed by a brief discussion of what the change means to working plumbers and water conditioners.
In order for your hours to count toward the applicable renewal requirement, the DLI wants to make sure they’re legitimate. The easiest way to ensure that the DLI will be satisfied with your CE courses is to choose a continuing education provider who has had their courses specifically reviewed and approved by the state.
This course provides 4 hours of approved continuing education on important changes made to the 2018 Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) during the recent code review cycles, as well as presenting every amendment to the 2018 UPC when adopting it as the basis for the current plumbing code of Minnesota.
Another nice thing about DLI-greenlit education providers is that they’re required to report your course completions to the state on your behalf. In other words, provided that you complete your CE hours with enough time for the provider to report them and the DLI to update their records (this usually takes a couple of weeks), your CE status should already be good to go by the time you submit your renewal application.
A 1-hour review of the residential portion of the Minnesota Energy Code. The class covers the adoption process of the 2024 Commercial Code and the ongoing process of adopting a new residential code in 2025. Every significant amendment to IECC-2012 when adapting it for the Minnesota Residential Energy Code is illustrated and discussed as a helpful review as well as in anticipation that many of the same amendments and issues will arise when adapting IECC-2021 for Minnesota.
