When you say "vent" do you mean the "relief" port between the 2 checks ? If that is what you are talking about I would highly suggest piping the discharge to a drain or outside. If that backflow where to discharge and get trash in it and get stuck in an open position, very much water damage could be done. They make the backflow preventers without the discharge but you would have to check local authority if is approved for that application. ... ......... X ..... Good Luck .....

being that it is a coffee maker they will most likely require the relief drain since it is a vacuum break which the ones without the relief do not have - - - - - - - PLUMBERS "Protecting The Health Of The Nation"

I thought a Watts 9D was designed for an outdoor spikot and if vented to the atmostphere. In doors, if that 9D decided to vent, lots of things would get wet. What am I not understanding? Best Wishes

If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.

It sounds to me like you understand it well. While the inspector may not care, it sounds like a poor install. If it opens up, things get wet.

Exchanges The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.

This 1/2 inch dual check valve backflow preventer with atmospheric vent helps prevent the reverse flow of hot or cold polluted water from entering into the potable water supply. This valve is designed for continuous pressure non-health hazard applications in smaller supply lines, such as laboratory equipment, processing tanks, sterilizers, dairy equipment, and specifically for boiler feed lines. All the makers have their own ,that I installed feed lines for, as well as regulators. You could contact the service dept of the maker to verify.I would spend the time to check with the inspector on this one. Edited 1 times.

Our inspector would require that the "vent/discharge" be piped through the ceiling at least so it would NOT damage the ceiling tile.
