PRV valve

you will get instructions on how to re move the 1222 cart. with the new one.you will need a set of american sized allen wrenches to get the handle off, then a phillipes screw driver.and a good pair of pliers.

It is not leaking but when it is turned on after being off for 24 hours the hot water does not come on. If I quickly turn it fully counterclockwise I hear a thunk and the hot water comes on. Today, it comes on hot and the cold does not come on. It I rotate the handle I hear a thunk at both ends of the rotation when I turn it back and forth quickly. Then it takes hold after a few rotations and I get the proper mix of hot and cold. The valve seems to be sticking.

counter clockwise from cold to hot .what is the problem that you are having with it.no hot???dripping in off position ??? tell us what needs to change about the control.

I have a shower valve that is malfunctioning. The valve has a lever that is turned counterclockwise from cold to hot to control the temperature. I wish to rebuild the valve but haven't a clue as to the parts to order. The body of the valve has some numbers "ASSE" "1016P" and "111621" This may be an American Standard valve. I need to know what to order and whether a plumber equipped with this identification would know what to order. Any help would be appreciated. Edited 1 times.

ASSE is the American Society of Safety Engineers, not a brand name. It carries a listing because it is a scald-guard type, which our eagle-eye Redwood has already identified as a Moen Positemp. These are not difficult to repair. The cartridge is the 1222, so you can buy that in advance from any plumbing or hardware store. Here is an exploded diagram of similar model. [www.moen.com] The handle comes off, then the sleeve pulls out, and two screws will remove the round trim plate. Before you start to take the valve apart, make sure the main water is turned off. Before attempting to pull out the cartridge, be sure to pull out the retainer clip part # 96914.
