The air discharge capacity of these devices is very high. They are capable of automatically removing all the air present in the system down to micro-bubble level. At the same time they separate dirt and sludge contained in the water in the circuit and collect it in the lower part of the valve body, from where it can be drawn off.

A pressure relief valve, or PTR, relieves the increase of pressure due to water expanding during the heating cycle. It does this by releasing drips of hot water to the drain line.
