Each check valve is engineered to hold a minimum of 1 PSI throughout the backflow preventer during normal operation. If the pressure leaving the mechanism ever rises above the incoming pressure, both check valves will close off to keep any backflow from happening. It has a working pressure of 150 psi and can withstand temperatures up to 110 degrees.
