Step-by-step, trapping the larger particles layer-by-layer, allows these filters a much higher dirt holding capacity than standard spun polypropylene and string wound cartridges.

These cartridges come standard with built-in pre and post filters to keep the DI resin from being washed out of the filter cartridge.

Our 5 stage systems are housed on 2 separate brackets, separating the single deionisation stage from the rest of the system. Installing this system is very simple but is better suited to a permanent installation due to the additional bracket.

Just some of the water contaminants that these membranes will remove are lead, copper, barium, chromium, mercury, sodium, cadmium, fluoride, nitrite, nitrate, and selenium.

Our ‘Premium’ range of RO/DI systems, across all stage variations, include all optional accessories as well as 2 x 50GPD RO membranes. These systems do require a minimum water pressure of 65psi.

Pure-Pro reverse osmosis membrane elements are one of the industry’s most reliable. Advanced membrane technology and automated fabrication allow these elements to deliver consistent performance that you can rely on. A high quality, thin film composite (TFC) membrane that processes 50 gallons per day. Just some of the water contaminants that these membranes will remove are lead, copper, barium, chromium, mercury, sodium, cadmium, fluoride, nitrite, nitrate, and selenium.

To stop this from occurring, a unique adapter is utilized to separate the two metals by using an elastomeric rubber gasket in between the dissimilar metals. This special fitting is called a dielectric union. When connecting copper pipe to galvanized iron pipeline for example, a dielectric union is installed to hold the 2 different metal pipelines together. However, there’s yet another alternative to a dielectric union– a brass nipple or a brass fitting which likewise certifies as a copper alloy fitting and complies by building codes too. So should you utilize a dielectric union or a brass fitting to link two different metal pipelines? Let’s see how they differ in their properties and performance.

When Brass Fittings Can Be Used Brass fittings and nipples are also frequently used as a great alternative to dielectric unions for plumbing. When galvanized water is exposed to particular water qualities, rust is produced and to prevent that from corroding, fittings made of brass are often used. Both dielectric unions and brass are approved for usage throughout plumbing systems, however, brass is utilized where bad water quality exists and galvanized materials have a high chance of getting worn away. Brass is a malleable alloy of copper and zinc that has actually remained in use for centuries. Brass fittings are manufactured to IPS and NPT standards and are extremely well-compatible with threaded adapters made from other metals and composites.

A mixed bed deionization resin is the final, polishing stage of the RO/DI system. It will remove any contaminants that may have passed through your sediment/carbon filters and RO membrane. This stage will achieve the 0 TDS RO water you need for a successful reef aquarium.

All Reef Pure RO/DI systems feature high-quality, Mixed Bed Colour Changing DI Resin stages for 0ppm TDS water and include a full set of filters with the system.

The Pressure Gauge Membrane Housing Connector is perfect for mounting any 1/8” M Connection pressure gauge to your RO system.

Reef Pure RO Systems have designed all of our RO/DI units with Australian reef aquariums in mind. However, the water that they produce is perfect for all other types of saltwater and freshwater aquariums.

The DI resin supplied by Reef Pure RO Systems is a mixed bed (both cation and anion) with colour changing indicator to let you know when it has become exhausted. The resin starts as a dark blue colour that will turn gold as it becomes exhausted. This gives you a very visual indicator, making sure you know when it is time for it to be replaced.

The minimum operating pressure for an RO unit is 50psi and it is essential to monitor this to ensure that your system is always working at an optimal level. RO membranes will produce more wastewater and high TDS production water when operating with insufficient pressure.

A dielectric union is a special adapter or fitting utilized in the piping systems of various metals to isolate the connection of the dissimilar metals. For instance, when linking a copper pipeline to a galvanized iron pipe, a dielectric union is set up between the two to hold the two different metal pipelines together. An elastomeric rubber gasket seals the connection to prevent any water leak and a plastic composite material isolates the copper tube connection to hex nut on the dielectric union. Different metals begin to corrode when they can be found in contact with each other. The small quantity of acid on water sets off the electrolytic response between the two metals causing electrons from one metal to stream to the other. This ultimately results in galvanic corrosion. To stop this from taking place, a dielectric union is used to sign up with the two dissimilar metal pipes.

If your home’s tap water pressure is below 65psi we strongly recommend the addition of a booster pump. All Reef Pure RO systems can have a pump added as an optional extra.

Pressure below the minimum required 65psi will cause the slow production of product water, with excess production of wastewater. Whilst, pressure over 100psi may cause damage to the RO/DI system’s filters and other components.

Sediment filters remove sediment and debris that if allowed to pass through would clog carbon block filters and damage RO membranes. These filters have true step filtration integrated into their design. With 4 separate layers of micron filtration, the outside-in flow allows the outer layer to trap the larger micron particles with a much lower pressure drop.

Advanced membrane technology and automated fabrication allow these elements to deliver consistent performance that you can rely on.

There’s a lot of plumbing around the house that normally different pipes to tap into each other; to set up a bar sink, for example, or possibly to include an additional outlet hose bib, even water heater connections fall into this category. Plumbing work frequently requires connecting one piece of metal into another. This is made possible with using the proper types of joints and unions. Understanding the correct parts and how to use them can really make the difference. When two different metals come in contact with each other, an electrolytic reaction begins, where water serves as the electrolyte. As a result the metals start to corrode. This unique process is called galvanic corrosion.

DI resin is a necessary part of any RO system used to produce water for your reef aquarium. It will ensure that your system produces reef safe water with total dissolved solids (TDS) reading of zero.

It plays a major role in ensuring that your system is performing at it’s best and continues to do so. It will alert you to when it is time to replace RO membranes and DI resin as well as ensure that the production water you are placing into your RO storage container is of the best quality possible with a 0 ppm TDS reading. Without a monitor, it is all just guesswork.

So, as long as the minimum water pressure can be provided, they will produce water twice as fast as a single standard 50 GPD membrane whilst cutting the amount of wastewater in half. If your home’s water pressure doesn’t reach the minimum 65psi required, don’t worry, you can add a booster which is sold separately.

This premium mixed bed, colour changing resin contains both cation and anion resins combined in the one bag. It is a nuclear grade deionisation resin that will physically change colour as it becomes exhausted, alerting you to when it is time to replace it, even if you don't have a TDS monitor on your system.

These cartridges can be filled with your filtration media of choice in order to create a filter cartridge that is custom to your specific needs.

Granular activated carbon cartridges are highly effective at removing high levels of chlorine and chloramines. They are also highly effective at removing volatile organic compounds such as benzene, trichloroethylene and other petroleum-based contaminants.

The 5 Stage Reef Pure RO/DI systems are designed for Australian reefers who have tap water that is treated with high amounts of chlorine and chloramines, along with common levels of other contaminants.

PurePro granular activated carbon cartridges are highly effective at removing high levels of chlorine and chloramines. They ensure that even the highest levels of chlorine and chloramine are removed from your tap water. They are also highly effective at removing volatile organic compounds such as benzene, trichloroethylene and other petroleum-based contaminants.

Manufactured from a high-quality, FDA-approved polypropylene. This membrane housing will accommodate most standard 2" x 12" membrane elements. Both the ribbed cap and housing are one-piece injection moulded parts, so no solvents or glues are used in the manufacturing process.

Carbon blocks are manufactured with high purity coconut shell activated carbon. With high performance, great dirt-holding capacity and the absence of carbon fines, they are perfect for use in reef aquarium RO/DI units, where high chlorine removal is needed.
